Sand Block Blast is a block-puzzle game with sorting and bubble-popping elements. On each level, the player drags and drops polyomino-shaped blocks made of sand into the bottom of a container to form and destroy wall-to-wall lines of color-matched sand. Each time they create a line, the game uses cannons above the container to blast away bubble blocks of the same color arranged in horizontal rows inside a brass tray. The player wins a level when they've cleared the tray of all blocks.
The player can only pop the rows closest to the cannons. If they make lines from colored sand particles that don't match the closest row, the game stores the particles in one or more of the eight cannons without blasting anything. If they fill all the cannons without clearing the rows, they lose. Otherwise, color-matched cannons automatically fire at the rows until they win. They receive gold coins at the end of a level.
Sand Block Blast provides the player with three booster buttons below the container. The player can use their coins to shuffle a set of three blocks to access ones that have different colors or shapes. They can use a broom to sweep away unwanted sand piles or particles in the container. Lastly, they can use a magnet to transfer sand particles to a cannon without completing a line.
